French website: Agence de traduction et de services linguistiques à Amiens
Capital of the Picardie region and a city of art and history, Amiens possesses a jewel of Gothic art: its Notre-Dame cathedral. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, at 145 metres in length and 42 metres tall, the cathedral in Amiens is France’s largest!
The Saint-Leu district is close to the cathedral and is known as the “Little Venice of the North”. This former quarter known for its tanners, weavers, and dyers is truly charming with its little brightly coloured houses lined up along the banks of the canal. Walkers are rewarded with a beautiful view of the cathedral from the Dodane Bridge, and the diverse terraces and patios of nearby restaurants and cafés, pleasantly overlooking the edge of the water, invite passers-by to come in and relax.
The Picardie region is characterised by its culture and history, but it is first and foremost one of the most important agricultural and industrial regions of France.
It has a population of almost 1.9 million and is centrally located in northern Europe, well connected via the large motorway networks (A1/A16/A29) or by TGV train.
The economy of Picardie provides around 670,000 workplaces – approximately 20 per cent of these in industry, in more than 70,000 companies in the most diverse of sectors.
Industrial production is based primarily on three segments: plastics processing, mechanical engineering, and the food industry.
